When SRK didn’t let Gauri wear short skirts!

Gauri is as big a style icon in India as Victoria Beckham is in UK. From sarees, to dresses, to gowns and even mini skirts, Gauri carries everything in style. But there was a time in her life when SRK, who was then her beau, wouldn’t let her wear short skirts.

‘I wouldn’t like it if Gauri left her hair loose. She’s so beautiful that I used to stop her from wearing mini skirts or T-shirts. But I promised her the minute we get married, I’d never behave in such a rotten manner,’ Shah Rukh told his friend Farah Khan on STAR Plus’ chat show ‘Tere Mere Beach Mein’.

Shahrukh revealed that he was insecure about Gauri till the time they both got married in 1991 because he said, ‘I didn’t know if she belonged to me like I belonged to her’.

That’s kinda cute. Isn’t it

Wake Up Sid Movie Review

A fresh and a heart-warming film, Wake up Sid is all about real characters of modern times and their story is just like a slice of life, you would wonder if yours. A must watch! Rating – 4/5

Cast: Ranbir Kapoor, Konkona Sen, Anupam Kher, Supriya Pathak

Director: Ayan Mukherjee

Time: 2 hrs 15 mins

I won’t be surprised if many of you would feel that Sid Mehra (Ranbir Kapoor) or Aisha Banerjee is almost like you by the end of the first half of the film. Yes they are like any of us when we were in our late teens and early twenties. Sid Mehra is our quintessential post-modern youngster, who has everything in life and yet nothing at all. Ayan Mukherjee does a ‘Farhan Akhtar’ with his characterization of Sid – reminiscent of Aamir in Dil Chahta Hai and more of Hrithik in Lakshya. You would obviously know where the film is heading to – it’s fairly predictable. Aisha Banerjee is his opposite in habit and nature but still there is something that connects them on many levels.

But there is more to Wake up Sid than the story that is most impressive in the first half but slows down in the second half, almost going round and round the same things. The screenplay is one of the prominent assets of the film that maintains the pleasant feel and look of the film, dialogues add to the strength of the screenplay being simple like every day conversation yet so effective to the narrative. Cinematography is amazing. If you look at Mumbai from Anil Mehta’s lens you would fall in love with the city even if you have never been to it.

Ranbir Kapoor has definitely gotten better from his second film, is more precise with his expressions now doing full justice to the character. Konkona Sen is the real star of the film in terms of performance which seems so natural and effortless. Their chemistry is very good for the unconventional screen couple they make. All the other actors along with the girl who played Laxmi have delivered mature performances.

I’d say go for it guys! This weekend is for Wake Up Sid!
